Let's not conflate being alone with being lonely. Sometimes being alone is just fine, and sometimes you can be lonely with other people around. I know I'm not the only one who experiences this. I will agree that writing is an attempt at connection-- isn't that what a medium of communication is by definition? Whether communication is a striving against loneliness, isn't that a question for psychology or philosophy? Just be grateful you don't identify with Virginia Woolf so much.
