Hippies own you all!

My hands are currently multicolored, thanks for tie dye! It was my activity choice today, and I made a shirt...but my hands are now colored with random dyes. Which, apparently, won't come off for three days.

It's not my fault -- they ran out of gloves.

So I took a bunch of pictures of me and a couple of my friends attempting to clean up the aftermath, aka the colorful hands. I actually came out of it better than most -- Paula's got completely dark blue hands, and Katherine Fosso is crazy and drew random symbols on her hands and feet. Which made for some really interesting pictures as she tried to wash the dye off in the bathroom sink. When I get home (or if I magically find a way to connect my camera to the computer) I'll upload the pictures for you all to see. Trust me, they're great fun.

They can't get us all out to see the new Pirates movie, so tonight they're screening the old one and the first people who show up get eyepatches. Needless to say, me and a couple of friends are showing up. Other than that, I don't know what I'll do, though I know it'll be fun. My weekend starts now!

Have fun dearest! Nice colors ;-)

Oh, I *am* having fun. The colors are starting to fade, so I think the guy might've been trying to scare some of the preps when he said it'd take three days for the dyes to wash off.

I ended up not seeing Pirates and instead going to the Stanford Shopping Mall to have dinner somewhere other than the cafeteria. It was good...but I ate fast and now I've got a stomach ache.

Poor tummy. My family is holding off Pirates until forever- I have an endless list of chores....

Yes, dye that won't come off will scare off the preps. That and metal.

Eh, I heard from my sis (who saw Pirates today) that it wasn't as good as she'd wanted it to be.

The dye is mostly off now...at least, on my hands. My one friend still has disturbingly blue fingers. But I finally saw the shirt and it looks pretty good for an amateur attempt. Paula's (blue handed girl's) looks much better, though -- tis amazing!

Is tye dying something you can practice or does it just depend?

[identity profile] readingredhead.livejournal.com 2006-07-09 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, yes, you can practice. There are all sorts of complex things you can do, as they guy who was leading us showed us. He had this catalog of tie-dye patterns, and some of them were intense. His turned out better than mine...I'll have to post pictures once I can.

Yes, please. I would love to find out how to better tye die.
