When chemists unite...

This entry is all about last night, since nothing interesting happened to me today. But last night I was at an awards banquet held by my regional division of the American Chemical Society (ACS). I tied for the highest score in my school on the first-year chemistry exam, so I was there as an honoree. It was actually kind of fun, since me and the guy I tied with spent lots of the time making our chem teacher feel really awkward. Let's just say he's the quiet type, and neither of us are.
The dinner was nice, with good food, and especially entertaining centerpieces, as pictured below.
Take a good look at what the flowers are in... I wanted to take it home but the people in charge said to let the oldest winner take it, and alas my age worked against me.
However, I do have a pretty cool certificate, and I got to take home the school plaque. I have to take it back to my teacher tomorrow, but I think he understands my insanity and so he let me take it home after the banquet. It's sitting on my bookshelf right now. I don't think it wants to leave.
But that's it for now; seeing as I was gone last night at a function for chemistry, I didn't have time to finish my homework for Chem class, and it's due tomorrow. Oh, the irony of the world in which we live...
