Okay guys.  So.  I need to write a short story by October tenth (yes, now there's a deadline) and therefore I need your help.  The first thing you can do to help me is provide me with a list of (not necessarily related) stuff.  If you have a moment, leave a comment with:

Who - a character name/type/profession/nationality/gender/etc.
Want - something that a character could want/desire
What - an object of any sort
When - a time of day/a season/a specific year
Where - a physical, nonphysical, or metaphysical location

So here's an example:

Who - an anthropologist
Want - to become a schoolteacher
What - an old house
When - summer
Where - Missouri

Feel free to be much more detailed.  When a sufficient number have responded, I'll create a poll with Who, Want, What, When, and Where as the questions, and your answers as the options.  Then people can vote, and the results will determine my short story!  I will honestly write a story about whatever the poll results dictate.*

*While I will write the story, and post it for your edification, I cannot guarantee that the story will end up being the story that I submit for workshopping in my writing class.  There's too big of a chance that this exercise will spur me to write something I feel is completely different but infinitely better.  But I promise that it will be written.  I think that's pretty good, all things considered.

My favorite is the when. I love late autumn rain more than almost anything. Thanks so much!

Who- Freud
Want- a bigger penis *cough* I mean approval. Or the full set of all different kinds of women- yes, all three. I hear it’s being sold on ebay. How awkward.
What- What? A big SUV.
When- the day he realized his mother would never love him the way she loved his father.
Where- in a cave, or in front of a tunnel with a train going into it. Or in his dreams . Oh, there’s an idea.

Okay, but seriously.

Who- a man going through a mid-life crisis. Or alternately, a UN
ambassador.
Want- to make a difference or be remembered for something.
What- a tiny dog; one of those really annoying ones that has a weird high pitched bark and never stops moving. Or an apple (I just rewatched Stranger than Fiction).
When- 2025.
Where- China or Africa.

If there are too many “alternates” in there for you, just ignore the second choices. I’m sorry I’m so indecisive. Good luck!

Oh, I am most certainly using *both* sets of "w" questions in my poll. This is probably not a good idea because I will end up writing about Freud and trains and tunnels.

When do you move in at SB anyway?

Haha, I actually meant if in the second set of "w" choices there were too many alternates for you (mid-life crisis/ambassador, tiny dog/apple, China/Africa, etc) to ignore the second choices. I assumed you'd ignore the Freud.
Although it'd be rather funny to see a story about a man with a psychoanalytic obsession, even if he wasn't Freud.

I move in in two days. I'm so behind; I haven't even started packing. And I still have to buy a TV. And do all my laundry.
