My short story is as follows.

Who - A man going through his midlife crisis / A writer
Wants - To make a difference/be remembered
What - A small dog / Mismatched ballet shoes / "Casablanca"
When - A rainy night in mid-autumn
Where - Arizona / London

This is not actually my short story. This is the one that I'll write sometime, really I will, because you all thought it would be a good idea if I did.

My actual short story is about the teenage daughter of the American ambassador to Israel and how she wants to help the Palestinian refugees and her parents are indifferent to the cause. Personally, I think it beats the majority of the literary fiction I've heard other people writing because A) it's less depressing, and B) there's less meaningless sex.

I have to proceed with writing this story, because it's due a week from Wednesday and I like having time to mull these things over before I have to submit them.

You know, I really like the idea you came up with. It's different, and it makes you stand out even more [than already] as a unique individual full of innovative ideas. Kudos.

I'm going to be bold here.

I think it would be cool if you wrote erotica sometime. Something different from the meaningless sex, if you will. For some reason, I think you'd be able to capture the heat of passion quite well, and my curiosity is getting the better of me since I'm interested in how you'd handle it. I think I should have put a period in the prior sentence. oops. But it's okay. I'll blame it on the time and my current lack of synchronisation with my Circadian Rhythm.

:) Glad the story idea sounds unique. Basically pulled it out of nowhere, so I'm glad it's still intact.

I've actually considered your suggestion before. Not as an immediate thing, but as something I might want to explore in the future -- you know, broaden horizons and such. I'm a little curious to see how I'd approach it, too!

Wait, literary fiction is more than depressing and meaningless sex?

Well, I couldn't follow all the rules, could I? No elves or aliens in this one, but no sex either.
