Last night was the Write-a-Thon. I wrote 8,000 words over the course of six hours! I typed this entry after hearing Chris give a gorgeous speech about why we do this to ourselves. His answer? Because once you can do this, nothing seems impossible ever again. You realize that you've been living all your life in a world where the ceilings are too short to let you stand up properly, because this opens a door into a world where there are no ceilings anymore.
I think he almost cried while giving the speech, and I almost cried listening to him, out of the sheer joy encapsulated in the words, and in the fact that these people came from all over to sit and write together for one night. It was glorious.
In an atmopshere like that, how could I do anything less than amaze?

And yeah, good message to take away from it all.

Separately, I've had to start giving myself page goals instead of word goals...to stop myself from checking the word count every two minutes.

Date: 2007-11-19 05:41 am (UTC)I do the page goal too -- I don't let myself check my wordcount until I've written X number of pages. X changes depending on my mood though... :)
