I just had this realization that the books and DVDs currently scattered upon the coffee table in our common room is a really amusing microcosm for what Rebecca and I are like. I specifically realized this when putting a romance novel down on top of my copy of the HarperCollins Study Bible. The juxtaposition is fantastic.

In addition to Slightly Scandalous (which is just about everything the title promises) and the Bible, we've also got the first season of Will and Grace, and the sixth season of The West Wing. Add in the collection of fantasy/horror/sci-fi short stories for teens and the copies of Mrs. Dalloway and Faulkner's Absalom! Absalom! and you've made quite a statement. Even if that statement is just that more of my books are cluttering up table space than Rebecca's (though there was certainly a boring statistics book there at one point recently).

Haha- it works with my coffee table too. I currently have on my table:

-My theatre history notes
-Three plays by three very different playwrights
-A variety of coffee table books, including two books about the wonders of fairies, one on pop culture references
-And at least three mugs that, at some point in the past day, have held chai and/or Colombian coffee with ginger seasoning.

:) It's my room mate and my personalities in a table. Add to that the fact that the table cloth is slightly stained with paint and glue (my room mate's an art major).
