I've been hanging around alot, being generally lazy, watching lots of TV, knitting, etc. You get the picture. But I've also been laptop-shopping and scholarship-essay-writing. And reading Life of Pi. But anyway, that's my life in a few sentences. But before you go:

1. Scan my interests list.
2. Pick out one interest that seems odd/intriguing/confusing/whatever to you.
3. I'll explain why it's on my list.

Knitting?

Oh the joys of knitting. You know me and my boundless energy -- I usually have problems doing only one thing at a time. So knitting is really great because I can knit and watch TV, or listen to music, or talk on the phone at the same time. I initially learned to knit so that I could make myself a Gryffindor scarf, which I accomplished beautifully. I can't do many complicated things...but I knit scarves and beanies fairly well. Hope that answers the question!

Don't be a typical person and automatically exclude "alternate" options. Most kids are afraid of Apples, but they're nice hardware and top notch (excluding Linux, of course-- top commercial) software. Most kids have never heard of Linux, but it's on a laptop for the first time (http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/notebooks/thinkpad/t-series/index.html)! I'd be more than glad to guide you along through any (unlikely) problems or (more likely for beginners ;-) confusion.

Heh, yeah, I was thinking about an Apple, except I'd have some compatability issues with my current desktop and I really don't wanna go through having to learn new key commands. A good friend of mine has an Apple laptop and I just can't get past the fact that there is no right click! But I've heard of thinkpads and I'll probably check that out.

green?

I love the color green. It was my favorite color ever up until I read Harry Potter and decided that my favorite color ought to be red since green was the color of Slytherin and therefore evil. :) The sad thing is, that's kinda true... But green is the color of life; it's the color of new grass, and trees, and emeralds (my birthstone) and wicked witches and aliens. And really, I just like it.

The last five years.

The Last Five Years is a musical which caught my attention sometime last year because the original male lead was played by Norbert Leo Butz (who I should add to my interests, come to think of it), a ridiculously talented singer who played the part of Roger in the musical Rent and also was the original Fiyero in the musical Wicked. I bought the soundtrack to hear his voice (which is absolutely gorgeous) and fell in love with the story. More or less, the musical tells of the last five years of a relationship between a wannabe actress, Cathy, and a successful writer, Jamie (Butz's role). It could very easily have been nothing out of the ordinary, except for how the musical is sequenced. Jamie tells the story from start to finish -- from when he meets Cathy to when he cheats on Cathy. But Cathy goes through the storyline *backwards*. The two are never present in the same scene, except for the middle one where their tellings of the story cross (at their wedding). It's a two-man show, easy for smaller theaters to produce; in fact, I saw it in a 99-seat theater this last year, and it was wonderful in every way. Hope that all makes sense; it's a really hard musical to describe, but it's also really good.

That makes sense, and it sounds intriguing, come to think of it. Especially how the two are only together in one scene, and how Cathy tells the story backwards. Thanks.
