readingredheadStephanie. I was thinking of you and your parkbench today, and I had an urge to draw something (which is unusual--I'm only an artist with words). But I tried, and I don't think it's too bad. However, I don't want to try coloring it in yet and messing it up. Nevertheless, here it is.
I didn't shade much, and my lines are light so it might be difficult to see...but I did my best. I hope you like it, Steph--this one's for you.

Date: 2006-09-27 12:14 am (UTC)The image of viewing *anything* from the moon is also something that seems to be very prevalent in my written work -- I'm actually writing a college admissions essay about it.
Africa's the center of the globe because the first photo ever taken of Earth from space was taken at a time when that was the only portion of the globe that could be seen. I actually drew it from a picture I found in the newspaper a week or so ago (I cut it out because it was beautiful, not realizing that I would have a use for it). But when you look at it that way...that's an interesting way to perceive it, too. Thank you for thinking I'm intentionally beautiful.
I'm glad you like it. There are people who are so good that they should be made inexplicably happy every once in a while. You deserve it more than every once in a while -- I'm just working to get in my fair share!

Date: 2006-09-27 01:35 am (UTC)We did a fundraiser last year with MUN -- we sold green "save Darfur" wristbands, and chocolate. We actually managed to rake in a fair bit of change, from what I remember.
And yes, Africa deserves the spotlight. Steph's comment totally got me thinking about the irony of that first picture of Earth...

(Personally, I love a good cry -- the happy kind -- though they don't come too often, usually at the end of a really good book.)
