Candide: Latin; of a shining, dazzling white, white, clear, bright; an epithet of the gods or persons transformed to gods; Of resplendent beauty of person, splendid, fair, beautiful

Of purity of mind, character, unblemished, pure, guileless, honest, upright, sincere, fair, candid, frank, open

Yes, I would say that it is me. :)

(It's the root word for my name. Of course I've researched it. Would you expect less from me?)

Interesting. I hadn't noticed that the roots for the names were the same.

We just read Candide, and I kept wanting to write out my name instead of his (or, more sadly, his instead of mine). I get to write an essay on the book...good fun.

I love Candide. The translation we read for school allowed me to force the creative interpretation that candied (Candide?) pistachios are the meaning of life. :-)

Also, in retrospect, a not-so-creative interpretation of my Stanford essay will show that I have taken LSD (I haven't / never buy drugs from hobos?). :-(

Heh. I wrote one essay about how Voltaire criticizes punishment based upon religious hypocrisy and the rigid caste structure. Now I'm writing a comparative paper with Faust Part 1 which will talk about how women are deflowered through the use of flower imagery (really creative, I know).

Oh, and I am sorry about the Stanford thing. Hopefully the dean of admissions is creative? Crossed fingers.

Heh, don't worry, I'm quite occupied at the moment. You don't have to fend me off.
