Wall-walking
Jun. 2nd, 2010 09:33 pmJust a quick post before I head off on another mini-adventure, this time to Newcastle to visit Hadrian's Wall. I'm taking overnight coaches there and back, so while I'm only staying one night in Newcastle I'm gone three nights...coming back on Saturday morning, for those who are interested. I'm really excited because a) the scenery looks gorgeous, b) the weather doesn't seem too forbidding, and c) it'll be a chance to hang out with a friend I haven't seen in a week, while doing lots of walking. I have discovered over the past year that I really do love walking, especially when scenery exists that is as gorgeous as the scenery in most of the United Kingdom and Ireland.
At the moment, the only downside is that my backpack of stuff for these two days feels about as heavy as the backpack I packed for my Ireland trip, which was seven days long. And yet I can't really tell what I could take out of the backpack that would weigh so much! I'm not even bringing a second pair of jeans! And I'm bringing more food than I did on that trip, but it can't be that much of a difference. Seriously, I just don't know.
I won't have my computer with me (I can deal with separation from the internet world for 2 days), but I suspect that I might be online anyway since the hostel has wifi? We'll see. Right now I just want it to be time to go already -- I have another half hour and really nothing to do with it other than wash my dishes. Which would be, you know, considerate and all of that, and which I should therefore probably do.
